Expert illustrator
Hello! I'm an Expert Children's Book Illustrator
Hi there! I’m a professional illustrator with over 24 years of experience in the commercial illustration world. Since 2000, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a wide variety of clients* on numerous projects. Under the name Ant Creations, I’ve created a diverse portfolio of work that you can check out on my other website.
But my true passion has always been in the enchanting world of children’s book illustration. That’s why I started this website. Since 2019, I’ve illustrated several children’s books, and I’m now focusing more on creating magical, inspiring stories for kids.
My Work in Children's Books
Below, you’ll find a gallery showcasing my previous work. These examples highlight my style, text layout, and overall page design for children’s books. I love creating bold, colourful, and fun illustrations that bring characters to life and make pages pop. Finding the right illustrator for your story is a personal journey, and each story needs a certain artistic touch. While my style is adaptable, I stay true to its essence.
My Illustration Process
Unlike traditional methods using pencils, pens, paints, or watercolours, I create my artwork digitally. Each project begins as a digital sketch on Procreate using an iPad Pro, which then gets developed, polished, and redrawn using either 100% vector digital artwork using Adobe Illustrator on a Mac or a mix of vector and pixels using Adobe Fresco on the iPad Pro. There are many benefits to using vector art for children’s books, and here are a few:
Benefits of Vector Illustrations
Versatile Line Styles: Whether you want clean, professional lines or a softer brush effect, vector art offers a wide range of styles to suit your story. You can even mix and match styles for different characters or scenes.
Vibrant or Subtle Colors: From bright and bold to gentle and soft, vector illustrations can match any color scheme you envision. The flexibility to mix and match colors ensures that each page fits the story perfectly.
Scalability: Vector art can be enlarged to any size without losing resolution. Whether you want a small book illustration or a large billboard, the quality remains impeccable.
Adaptability: Every element of a vector illustration can be adjusted, moved, or changed at any stage of the design process. This means you can make changes right up to the final artwork and beyond, ensuring you get exactly what you want.
Reuse for Marketing: Vector artwork is incredibly versatile for marketing, merchandise, and promotional products. You can isolate characters, scenes, or elements for use on T-shirts, banners, posters, and more. The possibilities are endless.
Why Choose Vector Art?
While traditional illustrations created by painting on a page are beautiful and hold a special charm, they lack the flexibility and versatility of vector art. I’ve been exclusively working with vector art for over 20 years, and its freedom to adapt and reuse every part of an illustration is unmatched.
If you’re looking for vibrant, adaptable, and professional illustrations for your children’s book, I’d love to help bring your story to life! Feel free to explore my gallery and reach out with any questions or ideas you have. Let’s create something wonderful together!
